The whole world is praying for the people of Haiti. It’s heartbreaking watching the news and you feel so helpless seeing the people of Haiti whose lives have been devastated by the earthquake. UNICEF, who I work for, are appealing to people to donate to their local UNICEF. In all disasters it is always the children who suffer immediately and the most. When the earthquake hit, just as it became dark, the children of Haiti's lives changed forever. In the few minutes the earthquake lasted, thousands of children lost their lives or were orphaned. I realize that we are living in difficult times but if you can spare a few euro for these children, it would be fabulous.
What's heart-warming is all the incredible fundraising that's going on. My children's school raised money from the little ones bringing in their pocket money – and they were all so happy to help. My friend Vonnie, who runs a beauty salon called Pinkie in Ireland's Dun Laoghaire, is donating an entire day's takings to help Haiti. It's a dark time right now, but don't you just take heart from how the human race can reach out to help one another?
